18 months old!

It's hard to believe how John's changed in the last 6 months. He's gone from barely walking to practically running everywhere. He's gone from saying da-dee to saying over 50+ words. He's finally cracked the barrier of telling us when he's hungry, instead of just whining or banging on the refrigerator or pantry. He can climb into almost any chair or couch but has not shown us if he can climb onto a bed or out of his crib (thankfully!). He's learned to ask for things, saying please and thank you. He asks for his paapaa and blankie, where before they had no names. He's fairly independent and very social. He can say hello and wave bye-bye and blow kisses. And he imitates really well.

Like here in this picture. Daddy had been watering plants. When he was done, JHP took over the watering can. He played for a while in the mostly empty can and then spilled out what had been left in it. So, he decided he needed more and when to get some out of the faucet. He had been studying John earlier as he filled the can. So, he knew where exactly to go to get more water. Daddy helped him get some more water, which he spilled all over his shorts and shoes on his way back to the patio.

No matter how slow John approaches, Wicket almost always runs from him. Tonight he almost got her when she slipped under the ottoman. He dropped and looked for her, but she was gone.

Today was the second Sunday in a row that John didn't have a meltdown when we left him in the nursery. I hope this might be the start of something because I really don't look forward to the separation drama when MDO starts in a couple of weeks.

Tomorrow we go to the doctor for John's 18 month check-up and some shots. Wish us luck! I might need it!
