JHP's first airplane ride to Indy!

We got back last night from JHP's first trip to Indy. He really did well on both plane rides (thankfully!). We had some rough days in between and today hasn't been the best. Something I ate has gotten the best of him and that interrupts his sleeping schedule. Hopefully, we'll figure out what that was...

He got to meet most of the Pitchers including his great grandfather, John S. Pitcher, who will be 90 this year. Here's the moment of their first meeting. I should note that when Grandpa (although now Great) first walked into the room, John and I were changing a really messy poopy diaper. John S commented, "It takes two of you?!?" Notice also in the picture how much hair JHP's losing.

This next pic shows Daddy explaining to JHP that they were all named John: John Harrison, John Nolan, and John Simpson.

And this last one is of FOUR generations of Pitcher men: Great Grandpa, Grandpa, Daddy, and JHP.

We did weigh JHP on the Baby Scale Grandma has that came from the Pitcher side. He's up to a whopping 12 lbs, which I confirmed this morning on the digital scale here at the house.

Ain't he a cutie pie?!?

I couldn't resist posting this picture that I took today. He's wearing a bib because he's drooling now, especially when he's had his hands in his mouth. The bib is something new for him to play with and he discovered today that he could put that in his mouth, too. Often it just makes it way there while he's trying to get his hands in his mouth.

3 months and counting...

With little fanfare, JHP hit the 3 month mark on Friday (Yea - I know this is Tuesday...). I took a couple of pics. Here's one. The rest are on the WebAlbums. Nothing fancy. Just me and him playing around until he got bored (5 minutes MAX!)

You can't really tell, but he's getting big. We went to the Doctor on Friday and he weighed 10 lbs 15 oz! Boy my back feels it! And he's beginning to lose his hair. It's getting thinner all over. I imagine that within a month, he won't have much. And then we'll wait to see what color his new hair will be. Daddy keeps thinking he's looking more Buckley by the day and I can see it just by the big head. He's smiling all the time when you smile at him and he learned to stick his tongue out at you, which mean the drooling begins. You'll see the bubbles in the pics I took.

We leave Thursday for the big trip to Indy to see the Grandparents and Great Grandpa John and the rest of the Pitchers ( :( minus the Rodenmeyers). It's will be JHP's second big trip in as many months, but this time we are flying. Please keep us in your prayers that all three of us survive the trip without too much incident! I'm off to pack!

Latest pics...

I uploaded some pics I took a couple of days ago of daddy and baby interacting. There are lots of pictures in the series, but I hope you take the time to look at them all. John Harrison is really growing and changing everyday. I bought a new scale for the house today and by difference, he is now over 10 1/2 lbs. WOW! And as you'll see in the pics, he's decided he really likes his thumbs! He's actually put himself to sleep by sucking his thumb. Unfortunately, that only works when he's not overtired and all worked up.

Good news at the cardiologist!

We took JHP to the cardiologist on Thursday. Although he was NOT excited to be there, the doctor was pleased with what he saw. JHP had not slept well that morning and was really fussy. Thankfully the nurse had a "magic wand" with spinning lights that occupied him for a short while, but let's just say the office was a lot quieter when we left. Anyway, Dr. J was pleased with the progress. The upper hole is showing some reduction in size. The hole in the lower septum (ventricle) has reduced blood flow across it as a result of some tissue that continues to get larger, partially obstructing the hole. He wants to see us back in 3 months and did not place any restrictions on John's activity.

Also, we learned that John now weighs 9 lbs 11 oz! He only weighed 8 lbs 8 oz two weeks ago. John and I could not quite believe the scale. So I weighed myself here at home and weighed the two of us and sure enough, a 10 lb difference. As a result of his weight gain, I am having some trouble keeping up with the demand for milk, but we are working through it. Unfortunately, the supply and demand of breastfeeding is NOT instantaneous!

The two pictures you see here, I captured this morning. He was grinning at me through the pacifier. So, I ran and got the camera and propped him up in the boppy. He blessed me with a few good pics before he was DONE. He's really tracking you with his eyes these days and I think he's trying to swat at things. He's really liking his right fist and thumb, but only finds (or even looks for) it when he's mostly content. If he's worked up, the hands are flailing and he'd rather have the pacifier.
