Daddy is SO funny when he...

So, last night I'm deboning the roast chicken in the kitchen while John and JHP are in the living room playing. JHP is in the Jumperoo and I occasionally hear it providing positive feedback. Then it's quiet and then I hear the occasional laughing from JHP. Quiet. Then laughing. Quiet. Then laughing. Well I was almost finished and HAD to find out what was so funny. After I found out, I HAD to get the video camera. Here's a portion of what I saw. Sorry for the poor lighting. Make sure your sound is on!!! I hope you enjoy it!

And just the head motion was enough to get JHP to laugh. What great fun!

I think we might have gotten over this "don't want to go to sleep" hump. I'm sure there will be more of them. Three weeks of fighting it. And like magic, it was done. Maybe Mom and Dad just finally got with the program! I guess we are just really slow on the uptake! Please pray that we get better at this!

JHP's really getting a hang of the eating thing. He doesn't seem so crazy about cereal anymore, but he will eat it if you mix it with other stuff. He's taken everything we've given him so far and will even eat it cold. Often at lunch, I'll take my food and sit with him on the floor. He watches every bite I put in my mouth! I didn't know that I was that fascinating to watch when I eat! And he's reaching for cups now. I guess I'll try him with a cup before too long.

He's awake. So, I guess I'll go feed him! Still every 3 hours unless he sleeps longer. I think we'll be working on switching over to formula full time soon. That will put a few more hours in the day!

I forgot to mention last week...

...that JHP is now pushing past the 14.5 lbs mark. That's still low weight for his age, but it sure doesn't feel like it to my back. He's holding on now; unfortunately, it's mostly to my hair and not my shirt as of yet. I think he's decided that rice cereal has a limit. Maybe it's a texture thing. He'll do OK for the first little bit and then he starts acting fussy and spits it out. It's not that he's not hungry, he eat other things that you give him - fruit or veggie. He ate cold bananas the other day (I know that most people will eat them cold, but I just figured he'd fuss about it). I guess since it's smooth. He ate peaches this morning after the cereal grew old.

And now that he's 5 MONTHS OLD, he's rolling ALL OVER. Yesterday I stepped out of the room and when I came back he was off on the tile holding onto the tray under the plant. He's learned to roll back and forth in order to get where he wants to go (this really just started over the weekend). Before he would get onto his tummy and then fuss after a while. Now you can leave him on the floor with things scattered around for a good long time. He gets where he wants to go. That means now we can't go too far without putting him on a confined space!

I'll upload some more pictures today to the WebAlbums. Here are my favorites:

He was sitting in the Bumbo talking too his puppy dog who sings to him.

And the next day he decided he wanted a hug from the puppy...

And just this morning, as he was sleeping... He looks so angelic! The other pics of this I took show the paw print on his butt in the pajamas. He had his tush up in the air a bit - kind reminds me of Andrew.

Slacker me...

I've been learning my new toy - Photoshop Elements. It takes some work, but I'm learning slowly the ins and outs of the program. It's not that I haven't taken any pictures, either. I just haven't taken the time to write...

Daddy made me look like this! I'm feeling a little silly...

Let's see...remember we all had colds? Well, JHP got a followup rash. It was all over his body although it didn't seem to bother him. After a doctor visit, we learned that in 20% of infants, they get a rash as a result of the adnovirus (the one that causes colds). Who knew? It lasted about a week and never itched. If you look closely in some of the pics I uploaded today, you'll see the spots on his face. Anyway, we are all better now.

This washcloth tastes good!

JHP is working on dropping a nap to just one per morning and one per afternoon. He puts up a fight to nap sometimes. But get this...he's pretty much sleeping through the night - like 8-9 hours. Yippee!!!!!!!!! Not every night, but most. I got 8 hours solid sleep last night. Unfortunately, I had lumps on my chest when I awoke. JHP took care of them , though. He's becoming more vocal and has lately started to squeal like a girl. I'm sure it's just a phase...He's still eating rice cereal with apple juice. He won't touch it with breast milk or formula. And so far, he's had squash (butternut), bananas, and peas. I think we've just about decided that he overheats easily in the car seat if the car is warm and I've got to remember to carry some water with us. He'll drink it right up if he's been outside in the heat, even if only going from the car to the store and back. Oh, and he's really started to laugh. Unfortunately, if he getting to laughing alot, then he gets the hiccups. I've got some video I'll try to get uploaded soon.

I'll upload some new pictures today to the WebAlbums.

And on the way to get the toy, I found...

...TOES!

We borrowed a Bumbo from the Sloans and so now JHP can sit up. The only problem is that he can't reach his toys when they fall or get pushed away. I was in the kitchen this morning and became suspicious of the quiet when I found the above scene. He had found his toes to play with, at least for a couple of minutes. It was long enough for me to run get the camera quietly and snap some pics. I've posted the rest up on the WebAlbums.

We've been remiss about bath pictures, but couldn't resist this after-bath photo. Daddy commented yesterday on how much JHP looks like niece June did at this age. Enjoy!
