Food firsts!

This was the result when we tried to give him Stage 1 Turkey & Gravy. It looked like cat food to me. So, I wasn't surprised that he wasn't thrilled with it. He kept opening his mouth as wide as possible, I assume, hoping it would fall out. We've got some video that I'll try to get up soon. The face was truly priceless!
On other more positive notes, he really seemed to enjoy the biter biscuit that we gave him last night. It made a large mess, but it was worth it. Lately, he's been really interested in us when we eat. So, when he gets fussy and we're eating, we put him at the table with us in the highchair. He is usually content to watch us eat. Last night we gave him the biscuit while we ate and also gave him a cup with ice cubes in it. As they melt (which is prone to happen even in the air conditioning), he get some water when he turns the cup up. He's getting pretty good at it. Daddy seemed impressed as he hadn't really seen him do that before.
And this morning, I mashed up a really ripe banana and it ate it readily. I was concerned he might not like the texture, but it wasn't an issue.

Pictures uploaded...

I've uploaded pictures to the WebAlbums. I didn't look at them too closely. So, there might be a few out of focus or shut eyes. I wanted to get them up for you all ASAP. There is a batch that are in poor condition. I have to fix them in photoshop because my white balance was off when I shot them. That explains the yellow-orange cast. I fixed a few, but not all. I will slowly try to fix the rest and replace them. I hope you don't mind wading through them... Enjoy!

Six Months and counting...
Monday, August 18, 2008
It's hard to believe that JHP is 6 months old! Today in the doctors office we saw a one week old who was about the size of John when he was born. Wow, it so hard to believe he was ever that small. Today he weighed in at 17 lbs. 9 oz. (stripped), 25.5 inches long, and a 44 cm head circumference. Percentiles are 50, 25, and 50, respectively. Dr. T said JHP is looking really healthy and he's pleased within his growth. He heard no discernable murmur, which falls in line with what the cardiologist said. As parents we got a "Keep up the good work!" Yeah!

I like this one of Dad holding him. He was looking at the mirror in the bathroom.
And John snapped this one of JHP while I was bathing him. A priceless half smile...
JHP's newest thing this last week is that he's discovered his feet/toes are connected to his legs. So when he's on his back, he'll try to grab his toes. If you are changing him, he'll grab his toes to help you and this morning, he had one foot almost to his mouth. Sometimes, he'll grab his right foot and keeps on kicking it. You all know how he loves to kick those feet. They ALWAYS seem to be moving. When he woke up from his nap this afternoon, he was rolling around trying to get that foot. I think the expression on his face explains that he was thinking," She's taking more pictures of me rolling around in here!" This was the last one I took.
I've got more pictures to put up on the WebAlbums, but it probably won't happen until tomorrow!

Waiting on a visitor...
Wednesday, August 6, 2008

This next picture is for my BFF. Way back, John and I babysat Andrew when he was a few months older than JHP is now. We were fooling around before bed and snapped a picture on Barbara's camera of Andrew with the honeypot on his head. I forgot to tell Barbara and later when she discovered the picture, I'm not so sure she was amused. Here's the Pitcher version with the same honeypot.
JHP is getting really strong and his balance is getting better. We are practicing sitting up everyday. He will pull himself up to a sitting position with a little help from us and is working on staying in the position for a few seconds before losing his balance. This morning I was playing with him on the bed and snapped some shots of him sitting up by himself.
I guess we did do alot in the last couple of days: take pictures. I hope you enjoy what I've uploaded!
