Reading with Uncle Jimmy

It's late. We just got in from Date Night. We went to dinner and then did a little shopping and ate ice cream OUT, which was something we hadn't done since before John was born. Unfortunately, JHP was not happy about us leaving. The sitter said he refused to play with her for about 35 minutes, until she finally resorted to the paapaa and blankie. She described him as being mad. Sounds like the normal response we've been seeing when he doesn't get his way. He did calm down. I guess he gets so far into the emotional pit it's really hard for him to climb out without some help.

We didn't do much today. We spent the morning washing both vehicles. JHP wasn't much help but he didn't get in the way either. He stayed close by and didn't make too much mess. He did manage to spray himself with water from the hose shortly after we started and the rest of the time he spent staying clear of the water hose. We had to laugh when it happened, though. We warned him as he was staring the nozzle in the face.

Jimmy and June came over to visit around lunch. We visited and the kids played. After lunch, Jimmy was getting ready to read the kids a book. I'm not sure what Jimmy was saying here, but the kids were sure having a good time in his lap.

Jimmy read and held the books for a while and then June held the books while Jimmy read. Either way, my most serious son was focused on the books.

A couple of things I don't want to forget but forgot to mention this week... Last night I discovered that John has cut his first 2nd year molar on the lower left. This could explain some of the eating issues this last week. On Tuesday, when I picked him up from MDO, Ms. M said that he hadn't slept long, but he did lay quietly on his mat for quite a while. While he was lying there, he reached out and held the hand of one of the girls in his class while she was still sleeping. How sweet!
