TGIF

This sweet little face has roughed me up this week. He's exerted his independence and taken to yelling at us. A firm hand was in order, but by the end of the day, it's left me whupped! The good news is that it's gotten a lot better as the week wore on. Here's hoping the phase passes quickly or he gets with the program.

We spent some time this week looking for some more tools for John. He continues to "work" on things around the house. I'm sure he'll be ready to sign on with Uncle James any day now. Today we made it to ToysRUs and spent some money out of this piggy bank on a tool box of tools and a cordless drill, all the Home Depot toy variety. I fished a paperboard support from a box in the garage and we went to town. What fun he had exploring and seeing what he could do. I'm thinking this will provide hours of entertainment as long as I keep coming up with new things for John to "work" on.

I'm still working on our vacation photos. My goal is to have some posts up this weekend.

A ride to the park

We haven't been to the park in a long while. But today JHP decided it was time to return and play some. We'd talked earlier in the day about taking a bike ride after dinner. But during dinner, John decided he wanted a bike ride and a trip to the park to play in the sand. Oh, how I love sand! NOT! Anyway, we went to the park. John and I rode the bike and Daddy walked. It wasn't too hot out. Of course, we didn't leave the house until 645p. John enjoyed his playtime.

Pretty much the first thing out of John's mouth this morning was "I want my Daddy." I had to explain that Daddy went back to work because vacation was over. John's response, "I want to go on another vacation!" Shortly thereafter, we called Daddy so that John could talk to him. JHP asked him if he wanted to some home so that he could play with him. Several times during the day, John talked about how he wanted Daddy home so that he could play with him. And wouldn't you know that when he woke from his nap, all he wanted was Momma! But as soon as he'd had a snack, it was Daddy play time.

It was quite ironic that he wanted his Daddy so badly most of the day since last night when it was Daddy's turn to bathe him all JHP wanted was me. Of course that turned into a large meltdown that eventually subsided, but not before leaving a bad taste in Daddy's mouth. Sometimes, John is just so fickle. I know he's two and hasn't figured everything out yet, but oh, does it get old.

Home again, home again!

We are home. Actually, we got home yesterday. We did some stuff around the house that really needed to be done today and enjoyed being in our own space again. I've got tons of photos to go through from the week. So it might be a few days before I get a post up about our trip. All I can say is that our son truly LOVES the outdoors and we all enjoyed the lack of mosquitoes. We all came home a little tanner, although you can't tell on the photo above from the flash blowout. One of the things we picked up at the cute little toy store in town was a stuff your own tube of plastic animals. John's been carrying them around with him all over the house in his motorcycle. Who knew they'd be such a hit? You can also see the blue stretchy lizard that we found in the house today and his little toy airplane, another new acquisition from the toy store. More later in the week, I promise!
