John's First Haircut!

BEFORE

JHP got his first allover haircut today! He did really good. He enjoyed riding in the little fire engine complete with a bell and steering wheel. The lady was real impressed at how good he was. He never squirmed or even acted like he was scared. Of course, he did stop her once or twice to see what she was doing, but overall, he did great even when she got out the clippers. Here are just a few. The rest are on the WebAlbums.

AFTER
John started his clingy stuff after we got back home and ate. I finally put him down for a nap. But in my opinion, he didn't sleep long enough, but what can you do? Dad got home early and John was fine without me for a while. My in-laws arrived and JHP would not let go of me! It took him about 1 hour or more before he'd even go to them. I realize it has been a while since we've seen them, but this is the same boy who will go to strangers when we are out in public. I'm just not sure what is going on with him. Later he just wandered out of the room and started balling and looking for me. John did finally warm up to Grandpa and Grandma with only intermittent periods of clingy-ness.

I hope tomorrow is better. I hope he shows his true personality and warms up to the room full of people that all love him and that he enjoys his first taste of birthday cake!

One little monkey jumping on the couch!

JHP gets the biggest kick out of moving around on the couch or bed. I guess he likes the pillows and the uncertainty of the steps. It's just plain fun to him, and it's one sure fire way to get him riled up. For whatever reason, he's been kinda unhappy the last couple of days especially in the evening. Tonight was no different. So, Daddy put him up on the couch as a distraction. John really had fun rolling around and took some time to mug for the camera.
Tomorrow, Grandpa and Grandma will arrive. They haven't seen JHP since Thanksgiving and I think they'll be surprised. He's been practising his walking all week. I hope he WOWS them good with it. And I'm hoping that this funk of John's will take a little vacation for the weekend. We've got lots going on with his birthday and baptism. I'm hoping that it's a tooth and not just the I-gotta-have-my-mommy-ness that is common at this age. That will make for a really long weekend! If it's teething, I can at least give him Tylenol.

Today, he actually broke out in tears before I left him at MDO and that has never happened. He loves the teachers and his friends there! It was definitely weird. And he had another blow-out BM today. This time it was at school. When I picked him up, he wasn't in the clothes I sent him in (not a good sign!) and he wasn't in a shirt that belonged to him either. Funny thing was the the boy-who-owned-the-clothes' mommy commented on how her son had the same shirt that John was wearing. Little did she know that it was her son's shirt. Oh, and the dirty shirt they removed from John, got sent home with his little friend, too.

Tomorrow, we are going to get a haircut. I definitely let you know how that goes!

See you next year!

We saw Dr. J, the cardiologist, today for John's 1 year check-up. We'd last seen him 6 months ago. I'd love to report that we won't see him again, but, alas, this will not be the case. Things don't seem to have changed much in 6 months. He still seems to think the hole in the upper chambers (Atrial) septum is "tiny" and the hole in the lower chambers (Ventricular) septum is just about closed. There was some discussion between the Echo tech and the doc about whether it was closed or not. He seemed to think that it was closed, but she saw some movement of blood in that direction. The upshot is that we have to go back in a year. But he has no restrictions of any kind. So we just keep praying that the Lord will continue to heal him and be thankful that we've come this far in his healing.

You know, when you have to be somewhere at a certain time, and you have kids, things happen. Well, that was this morning. Before I even feed John breakfast, he had a blow-out BM that required a wash down in the tub. Thankfully, he wasn't fully clothed in the clothing I planned on him wearing all day. The funny thing was that it didn't seem to bother him at all! I guess he felt better after taking care of business and didn't mind it running down his leg!

To make it to the doctor on time. We had to get up early today. So, John was not in the best of moods all day because I had to wake him. Very clingy and would cry very easily. And I'm talking, tears streaming down his face. So, after he woke up from his nap (only one because of the doctor's appt and my Bible study), I took him to the park. We put his ball cap on and I couldn't resist a few pics. And boy, were they cute ones!
