This and That

John's figured out that when I take pictures with the "cramera" he can see them on the little screen. So he almost always asks to see them once I ask him to smile for me. Sometimes even before I take them. Tonight he kept asking me to "play" them.

When I went to get John out of his crib this morning, he was without his pajama bottoms. There was nothing else in the crib but him. He'd tossed everything else overboard. When I asked him about his shirt, he said it was "too hard" to take off. He wanted me to help him.

If he has a favorite cereal, it's Cracklin Oat Bran. We've been out for several days and each day he's asked for it. We bought more yesterday at the grocery. He was happy about it.

I think his new favorite TV show is Little Einstiens. We never watch it live because we aren't usually around when it comes on. I always tape it. But lately he's asked to watch it first, even before Imagination Movers. Can you believe it?

I forgot to mention that we are OFFICIALLY done with the pacifier as of Saturday. What I didn't know until Sunday or maybe Monday was that at some point Saturday evening John himself opened the diaper pail and put his "too broken paapaa" in it. And he hasn't mentioned it since. I remember him asking for it on Saturday. I got it off the shelf for him and went back to whatever I'd been doing. I heard him mention something about it being broken and then heard some other noises. But I just assumed he was playing in his room. It wasn't until the next day or so that I saw the paapaa lying in the pail. And I wasn't pulling it out at that point! I can't believe how easy it was, really. I wish I'd cut it off at a faster rate! I highly recommend this method!

Watering

JHP and I got our new hats in the mail today. I figured that if we were going to spend a lot of time outside, we better get some good hats that cover us well. John really likes his and wore it around a bit this evening. Mine looks just like his except a little larger.

We finally broke in the new watering can tonight. Of course, as soon as Daddy got it filled, John spilled it on himself while he was trying to carry it.

Daddy predicts that the plants on the patio will not want for water this year with John on the job. He started off watering his beans (if you look closely, a new set of leaves has sprouted on each plant). Then he proceeded to water everything thing else on the patio, multiple times. Then he watered the grass some and gave the birds some water. And when his water ran out, he borrowed Daddy's can or asked us to refill his can.

Someone today suggested we use the watering can in the bathtub to rinse. Duh! Never thought of that! John was so psyched about using his watering can in the bath, that as soon as I mentioned it, he was ready to get the bath going. He didn't procrastinate at all tonight! He had a great time in the bath using his can, mostly rinsing his foot - the only thing he could really reach with it.

This afternoon was the first time that John actually cried for Daddy. I'd done something that he wasn't happy with. So he went on a whining/crying jag, saying "Daddy, Daddy!" I guess he thought I was a mean old mommy right then and Daddy could fix it. Of course this didn't last too long. Once I managed to get him loaded in the car, his tune changed and he was happy as a lark.

Happy Easter!

DSC06865

The Easter Bunny visited our house today.  Of course, John isn’t aware enough to go looking for his basket (yet!).  The bunny made sure that there wasn’t too much candy, but still plenty of good stuff to fill the basket.  Here’s what it looked like before discovery.

We ate breakfast first and asked to be excused to go find his eggs.  And he found them.  But then he discovered the Easter basket.  He was quite surprised!  He ran right over to it and moved it to the floor for a closer look.

The watering can was the first thing that got removed.  He slowly dismantled the rest of the basket.  He soon discovered the peanut M&M’s that were stuffed inside a few plastic eggs.  I wasn’t going to fuss about him eating 10 M&M’s after breakfast.  So in most of the pictures you might see some chipmunk cheeks as he munched away.

Daddy thought he’d help me get a cute picture of John and his new watering can.  He did, although I’m not sure this is what Daddy was thinking.  I caught this cute little expression.  We didn’t make it outside today to play with his new garden things, but we definitely will do this tomorrow.  There are lots more pictures on the WebAlbum from this Easter morning.

I snapped a couple of pictures while John was eating his snack this afternoon.  I saw him sitting there in his Hawaiian shirt and rolled up pants, hand on his knee.  Something just made me want to capture the moment.  Unfortunately by the time I made it back, the scene had changed slightly and I didn’t capture the moment I wanted.

John had a little incident at the nursery today.  He bit another kid’s finger.  Based on what we were told, John didn’t get his way, got frustrated and struck out.  The same thing happened tonight with Andrew, only this time, John hit Andrew in the face with Pat the Hammer.  He’s done this a couple of other times in the last few days, but not to this extent.  I hope it gets better before it gets worse.  I’ll definitely warn the teachers tomorrow at school.
